My daily life living in the suburbs of Tokyo, Japan

Snorkeling with My Family on Shikinejima During the Obon Holidays

Snorkeling

During the Obon holidays, I went snorkeling with my family.

High-speed ferry

We went to Shikinejima, which can be reached in three hours by high-speed ferry from Tokyo.

Rental Bicycles

We rented electric bicycles and cycled around the beach.

Ishijirogawa Beach

On the first day, we went to Ishijirogawa Beach.

Ishijirogawa Beach

It was already evening, so we only snorkeled for an hour.

secret hot spring

We also went to a secret hot spring.

Jinata hot spring

This is Jinata hot spring.

It is a truly natural hot spring with seawater flowing into it.

If you don't choose a time when seawater is flowing in, it will be too hot to enter.

I felt like I had an amazing experience.

Nakanoura Beach

On the second day, we went to Nakanoura Beach.

It was a clear day, so the colour of the sea was very beautiful.

Nakanoura Beach

There was someone feeding the fish, so lots of fish gathered around.

The people on the island told me that Nakanoura Beach is a good place for snorkeling.

He said he'd also seen sea turtles.

barbecue

We had a barbecue at night.

We rode our bikes to a park where we could see the stars beautifully.

This is Konokuchi Park, marked by a whale sculpture.

It was a truly beautiful starry sky.

yakisoba

Day 3. We made breakfast in the shared kitchen.

On this trip, I am staying at an inn that does not provide meals.

I made yakisoba.

It's been a while since we had breakfast together as a family.

Tomari Beach

On this day, we went to Tomari Beach.

The weather was cloudy.

When the sun came out, the sea turned a beautiful green color.

Tomari Beach

Here too we were able to see a lot of fish.

Water's edge

I enjoyed a casual conversation with my son on the shore.

"Sea bream tastes better with the skin on."

"I can't eat snails"

Fun times will end in a flash.

We will return on the large passenger ship "Salvia Maru."

Explore the interior of the Sarvia Maru

We explored the ship.

Departing from Shikinejima

Goodbye, Shikinejima.

Rainbow Bridge

We are back in Tokyo.

I think going under the Rainbow Bridge is a special experience.

Everyone came out onto the deck and took pictures.

We enjoyed the sunset cruise.

Takeshiba Passenger Ship Terminal

A special journey comes to an end.

I'm going back to living a frugal life.
