Influenza, boiled tofu, Stir-fried Calamari, autumn balcony vegetable garden, goldfish care

One Friday in November, I got home just after midnight.
Work is still as busy as ever.

First of all, I had a highball.

I wasn't feeling well so I took my temperature and it was 38.5 degrees Celsius!

When I went to the hospital for a checkup, I was diagnosed with the flu.

My throat and joints hurt, and I also have a terrible headache and chills.
I didn't have much of an appetite, so I ate yudofu (boiled tofu).
Is it the flu effect?
The soy sauce tasted strange (it wasn't salty).

I wanted to eat something with a strong flavor, so I made "Calamari stir-fried with butter and soy sauce."
It's the kind of food you might find at an izakaya.
I fried it briefly so it wouldn't get hard.
Personally, I like the tentacles, even though they look gross.
To finish, drizzle with soy sauce and it's done.
The flavor was so rich that it made me want to drink beer, and it was delicious.

After sleeping for about two days, I felt much better.
My sense of taste seemed to have returned to normal, so I decided to eat a hearty meal.
It's pork steak.
This pork was domestically produced and a bargain at 160 yen per 100g.

The side dish for the steak is king oyster mushrooms.
This time, I had it with a sauce made from soy sauce, mirin, sake, and grated ginger.

I've been making a lot of coleslaw salad lately.
Because I want to use the homemade mayonnaise I made as a trial.
I made coleslaw salad with cabbage, carrots and persimmon.
"When persimmons turn red, doctors turn blue"
Persimmons are said to be a very healthy food.

An update on my balcony vegetable garden. I'm still harvesting bell pepper, but it's time to pack them away.

I bought some broccolini seedlings and am growing them for the first time.

It took a month and a half for the radish to grow, but they are finally ready to harvest.

The chili pepper plant has stopped flowering, so it's about time to clear it out.

Mint is not growing much as temperatures have dropped.

Swiss chard seeds planted in the fall are growing slowly, probably due to the low temperatures.

I'm growing chrysanthemums from seeds and they're doing well.

Red sorrel may be too small to harvest.

My parsley is growing vigorously, and I harvest and eat it regularly.

The mizuna is also doing well. This is the first time I've grown red mizuna.

I decided to put a filter in my goldfish tank in preparation for winter.
It may not be effective on voracious goldfish, but I have some hope.

This is the first time my goldfish have survived winter, so I can only pray that they will survive safely.
