My daily life living in the suburbs of Tokyo, Japan

Going to Chiba Prefecture to buy used skis

Traffic jam

During the long weekend in November, my family went to buy skis for our kids.

In Chiba Prefecture, next to Tokyo, there is a second-hand store with a good selection of products.

Because it was a long weekend, there was terrible traffic.

Rainbow Bridge

We crossed the Rainbow Bridge and took the Shuto Expressway Bayshore Route to Chiba Prefecture.

The view of Tokyo Bay and the cityscape from this bridge is truly magnificent.

Unfortunately, the scenery can only be seen by looking straight to the side, so I can't see it while driving.

We passed Tokyo Disneyland and after a while we arrived at our destination.

BOOKOFF SUPER BAZAAR

This is a large store that stocks second-hand goods of all genres.

As the ski season had not yet started, the selection was good.

We were able to buy the skis without any problems.

Refueling

It was already night. We filled up on gas, did some groceries, and headed to the hotel.

Perhaps due to the rising prices of recent years, second-hand stores and discount stores were very crowded.

It seems that consumption of non-essential goods is declining.

Hotel lobby

However, it seems that spending on "making memories" and "experiences" is increasing.

I'm in the same boat. We stayed in a hotel for one night for sightseeing.

View from the hotel

The view from the hotel restaurant was amazing.

This time, we went to Chiba Port Tower, which can be seen from here.

Chiba Port Tower parking lot

I had a Max Coffee in the parking lot of Chiba Port Tower.

If you come to Chiba Prefecture, you must try this sweet canned coffee.

Chiba Port Tower Park

The trees in the park are finally starting to look wintery.

Winter is just beginning in the Tokyo area.

View from Chiba Port Tower

We went up to the Chiba Port Tower.

It's not very high at 125m, but I was impressed by the view of the vast Tokyo Bay.

Seaside

We spent some time relaxing on the beach.

Traffic jam

On the way back, we took the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, which crosses Tokyo Bay.

As it was the last day of a three-day weekend, there was terrible traffic.

It's chaotic.

This place was in such a bad state that it seemed like an accident could happen at any moment.

Umihotaru

We stopped off at "Umihotaru", a rest facility located in the middle of Tokyo Bay.

I've been here a few times.

It is surrounded by the sea and has a great view.

View from Umihotaru

The view of the pitch black sea isn't bad either.

Melon pan

I bought some melon bread for tomorrow's breakfast.

Departing Umihotaru

I took a break and feel refreshed.

We set off for home.

Undersea tunnel

From here onwards there is an undersea tunnel.

Bay Bridge

We passed through the tunnel and crossed the Yokohama Bay Bridge to return to Tokyo.

The view of Yokohama from this bridge is truly magnificent.

My next trip is planning to go skiing.
